In an effort to simplify the programming of the MAX remote controls and keyless entry, LiftMaster has revised the programming instructions. The revised programming method ensures the MAX remote control or MAX keyless entry is configured to transmit the correct code based on the type of garage door opener.

Programming the MAX remote control (890MAX, 893MAX, and 895MAX):

1) Press and hold the program button on the remote control until the LED on the front of the remote control turns on.
2) Press and release the remote control button you wish to use the number of times that corresponds with the garage door opener type:

• Press Once = Security+ 2.0 (Yellow Learn Button)
• Press Twice = 315 MHz Security+ (Purple Learn Button)
• Press Three Times = 390 MHz Security+ (Red/Orange Learn Button)
• Press Four Times = 390 MHz Billion Code (Green Learn Button)

3) To exit programming, press and release any remote control button except the button that was just programmed.
4) Press and release the Learn button on the garage door opener or door control.
5) Press the remote control button programmed in step 2 until the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard.

Programming the MAX keyless entry (877MAX):

1) Press and hold the * and # buttons until the lights on the keypad stop blinking.
2) Enter the four digit personal identification number (PIN) and then press the # button.
3) Press the Enter button the number of times that corresponds with your garage door opener type:

• Press Once = Security+ 2.0 (Yellow Learn Button)
• Press Twice = 315 MHz Security+ (Purple Learn Button)
• Press Three Times = 390 MHz Security+ (Red/Orange Learn Button)
• Press Four Times = 390 MHz Billion Code (Green Learn Button)

4) To exit programming, press and release the “0” button.
5) Press and release the learn button on the garage door opener or door control.
6) Enter the four digit personal identification number (PIN) programmed in step 2, then press and release the Enter button until the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard.
